Weather has seen our vintage pushed forward to late September but there
was plenty for everyone to do in the vineyard and the winery! Wednesday afternoon arrival to St Pierre des Corps train station, a picturesque ride along the Loire river to our village of Bourre where Benjamin and Francois winemakers at Domain Levin had prepared a vertical tasting of our 2004. 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 Levin Sauvignon Blanc- the 2004 Sauvignon Blanc showed some amazing flavours and vibrancy for a 9 year a great testament to the longevity of Levin Sauvignon Blanc.
We departed for our lovely Gite Bizard in Monthou – sur – Cher, where
everyone took advantage of a swim whilst David Levin prepared a B-B-Q using
canes and vines from the vineyard. Local rillettes, chevre, saucisson, cornichon,
and baguette whetted the appetites for perfectly bbq steaks, marinated chicken, Toulouse sausage, local salads and baked pommes de terre with herb de Provence, followed by tarte de pommes and tarte aux fruit…….washed down with Levin Sauvignon Blanc, Levin Rose, Madame L Gamay and our fabulous Levin Noble Botrytis Sauvignon. There was some hard work to follow, with picking grapes for a maturity testing and a real challenge ahead with a blending exercise that truly demonstrated just how difficult putting together the perfect blend is! We loved having such an enthusiastic team and look forward to welcoming our next visitors to Domain Levin!
